Getting Engaged And Being On Stage With My Idol?!

Tuesday, 16 July 2019

Firstly, hello! It's been a while since i've posted anything let alone a life update, but as i'm sure you can gather from the title or if you follow my social medias, life has been a bit crazy as of late and i've only just had a minute to sit down and register everything that's going on!

The biggest news I have to share is that on Friday 5th July 2019, I asked my girlfriend to marry me. Yep, your girl is a big ol' adult and is now engaged to be married! I can't quite believe that the girl of my dreams agreed to spend the rest of her life with me, but I am so incredibly happy with where we are and what our future may hold. Paige and I have spent the last two and a half years on such a crazy and beautiful ride, and I truly do believe I have met my soulmate. A life without her is a life I can't bare to imagine, and that was enough for me to seal the deal with a lil' delicate white gold diamond ring.

There's been lots of questions about how I did it, when the wedding is, and all the typical excited proposal questions - at the moment we're just taking the time to catch our breath, but if more in-depth engagement / wedding planning posts is what you're looking for then let me know in the comments and i'll be happy to fill you in (no pun intended). When we are ready to start planning, we're excited to be using Paperless Post* to save on paper waste and get the invites out there!

While on the topic of our engagement, to make the event even more of a special occasion, (I can't believe i'm even saying this...) Craig David (yes, the Craig David) surprised us with a gift like no other. At his headline Kew Gardens show on Friday 12th July - a week after I popped the question - my all-time favourite artist surprised me and got Paige and I on stage to dedicate Rendezvous to us. It was honestly the most surreal moment of my life! As someone who has been a fan for 20 whole years, to have this moment and share it with my wife-to-be was absolutely incredible. I have often spoke of how much of a true sweetheart Craig is (x), but just when I think he can't get any nicer he completely out does himself.

I had no idea it was happening and it was entirely planned by Craig and his management team/mutual friends. If I knew it was happening I definitely would've dressed for the occasion and not allowed myself to get so sweaty and gross during the gig! I'm still in complete shock and haven't really processed being on stage with two of the most important people in my life in front of thousands of people, but you can check out the content on my Instagram as well as this lovely article from Capital XTRA. So yes, Craig will be getting a wedding invite!

As well as all the engagement excitement, this week see's me celebrating my year anniversary at my current job where I work with the best people. Having a job that doesn't impact your mental health negatively is so, so important, and i'm feeling really content in what i'm doing and that means I actually don't hate the sound of my alarm in the morning! I am also doing really well with my driving lessons that I mentioned wanting to do in my New Year post. I passed my theory test back in April, and hope to be passing my practical before the years out. My FiancĂ© (tehe) and I are off to Amsterdam in a few weeks, and we'll be at Reading Festival this year, so there's plenty more exciting things to come and see the last half of the year out with a bang.

So yeah, that's where i'm at right now! I promise to try and update the blog more regularly, so please do feel free to let me know what you wanna see in the comments or on Twitter. Lastly want to give a massive thank you to every single person that has congratulated Paige and I on our engagement. I tried to reply to as many of you as possible but I never expected the influx of congrats! The love and support we have received from friends, family, strangers, Craig David (lol what is my life), colleagues and just people on the internet, is super overwhelming. Thank you!! ♡
