The Best Conspiracy Theories And Crime Stories

Wednesday, 1 August 2018

I think we're all partial to a good crime documentary, and when YouTubers started converting this content into weekly uploads onto their channels, it became a huge trend. It seems every Tom, Dick and Harry is now a conspiracy theorist, but who can really blame them when the stories can be so interesting.

Whilst I don't think I have the knowledge and presentation to be able to portray my own conspiracy vids, I did want to point you in the direction of some of my favourite stories that i've enjoyed (is enjoyed really the right word?!) watching.

01. Madeleine McCann.
The missing case of Madeleine McCann is one of the biggest the world has ever seen, and 11 years later her body, dead or alive, has still has not been found. I sit firmly on the side of the fence that points fingers at Madeline's parents, but Kendall Rae did a really good video which just about covers it all.

02. Kenneka Jenkins.
This story really fascinated me because it just does not add up at all. If you've never heard her name before, Kenneka Jenkins was a 19 year old girl from Illinois who's body was found in a hotel freezer. There is loads of CCTV from the night of her death that shows the teen intoxicated, but nothing that confirms the true cause. There are loads of loop holes in the story, and all my favourite conspiracy YouTubers have covered this one; Kendall RaeShane DawsonDanelle Hallan and AmberLovesMystery.

03. Rebecca Coriam.
This case takes place on a Disney cruise ship, which seems to be part of the reason why a lot of stuff was covered up to save Disney's name. Rebecca was a crew-member who disappeared from the ship in March 2011, and has never been seen since. Danelle Hallan covers this one and all the possibilities really well, as well as Tawny Michelle, Sophie Chilton and Lisbug

04. Adrianna Hutto.
This story is extremely interesting because the evidence comes from a child and the younger brother of the victim. Adrianna was just 7 years old when her mother stated she discovered her lifeless body in their garden pool. Yet again, Kendall Rae is the one that brought the shocking story and all the evidence to my attention, but has also been covered well by Eleanor Neale.

05. Elisa Lam.
This story is SO creepy and probably the one that had be most hooked upon researching. Elisa was a Canadian student who's body was found in a water tank on top of Los Angeles' Cecil Hotel. It wasn't really the discovery of her body that shocked the nation, it was her behaviour in the hotels lift before her death (video). YouTubers Bella FioriShane Dawson and Kendall Rae (above) have all covered this in depth, but there's also this documentary you can watch on the absurd case.

06. Princess Diana.
I won't pretend I know much about the Royal Family, but what I do know is nothing is ever as it seems, and I find the evidence against them and Diana's death extremely concerning. Kendall Rae goes into great depth in her video talking about the tragic passing of Diana and Dodi in 1997.

07. 9/11.
I'm sure you've probably seen loads of documentaries on the tragic 9/11 bombings, but there are many conspiracies out there that it was a planned government attack. I unfortunately do believe that the more I research on it, so check out videos from Kendall Rae, Shane Dawson and OkayMK if you want to know more.

08. JonBenét Ramsey.
There are streams of videos and documentaries on the JonBenét Ramsey case, so chances are you've already seen something on it. The 6 year old beauty pageant queen was found dead in the basement of the family home in Colorado, alongside a sketchy ransom note. This is another one with so many loop holes and unexplained circumstances, but i'll leave it to you to decide what you think with the help from Kendall Rae, Casting JonBenét on Netflix, and JonBenét's brother on ABC News.

09. West Memphis 3.
The murder of three 8 year old boys (Steve Branch, Michael Moore, and Christopher Byers) in 1993 is better known as the 'West Memphis 3' case, which saw teenagers follow Satanic rituals and murder the children. There has been a number of books and documentaries about the case, but it was most popularly known in the Paradise Lost films. Once again, Kendall Rae is the queen of conspiracies and crime, as she covered this horrific story on her channel last year.

10. Slenderman.
Yes, you read that right, there is a whole case on two young girls who believed that Slenderman was real and was encouraging them to kill their friend. They stabbed the victim 19 times and by some miracle she actually survived. It's an absolutely outrageous story and of course, was brought to my attention by the incredible Kendall Rae. There's also this documentary on it which is a good watch.

If you hadn't guessed it, Kendall Rae is one my favourite YouTubers for conspiracy and crime, so i've been a bit of a broken record throughout this post, but honorable mentions also go to Michelle Platti, Danelle Hallan, Shane Dawson, Tawny Michelle, Sophie Chilton, AmberLovesMystery, Georgia Marie, Alaina Violet, Loey Lane and Bella Fiori, who all explore conspiracy and crime across their uploads.
